Introducing Dr. Aaron Bunker, winner of the Macknight Innovative Educator Award

We’re happy to announce the winner of the 2014 ADInstruments Macknight Early Career Innovative Educator Award, Dr. Aaron Bunker of Morningside College. Congratulations!

The Macknight award is presented by the American Physiological Society in recognition of innovative teaching techniques and effective use of technology to engage undergraduate students of physiology. We love the pride Dr. Bunker has in his students’ work and how he encourages them to dive in to real, practical scientific enquiry in his classes. Inspiring!

Dr. Bunker will receive a Powerlab teaching bundle and a travel stipend to attend EB 2014, where the award will be officially presented.

Dr.  Aaron Bunker - Morningside College, Sioux City, Iowa

'This award means a great deal to me, as it is recognition from the American Physiological Society of how my inquiry-based approach to running my undergraduate General Physiology lab is innovative! I absolutely love the inquiry-based part of the semester, because that is when the students take complete control over the labs for their research projects and I'm just there as a "lab manager" of sorts. A brand new PowerLab set up will really enhance this inquiry-based learning experience for the students as well as increase the resources available for the pre-nursing students to train on for basic understanding human physiology.'
