ADInstruments South East Asia Training Centre opened
ADInstruments systems have been used to revolutionize and simplify the data collation, storage and analysis process for teaching and research purposes. ADInstruments teaching and research systems are already used extensively throughout South East Asia in universities, hospitals, research institutes, pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations and private industry. However, market research revealed the need for a regional training and support facility in South East Asia to support teaching and research efforts in life sciences. Following this, the development of the ADInstruments South East Asia Training Centre commenced.
The ADInstruments South East Asia Training Centre was officially opened on March 2010, by Professor Ir. Dr. Mohd Jailani bin Mohd Nor, who represented the Malaysian Minister of Higher Education; The Honorable Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled Bin Nordin. Prof. Ir. Dr. Jailani is Director of the Institute of Higher Education Excellence Planning Division, at the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. Present at the opening were important guests and ADInstruments management including Michael Macknight (Chairman and Technical Director), Graham Milliken (CEO and Director), Tony Macknight (Director and Scientific Consultant) and David Kumar (South East Asia General Manager).
Malaysia was selected to accomodate the South East Asian centre based on its strategic location, positive business environment and the Malaysian government’s encouragement and full support for research and education. The centre is operated by ADInstruments Sdn Bhd – established in 2007 as a joint venture to manage ADInstruments business activities in the ASEAN region.
“Working in conjunction and in close cooperation with key institutions of higher learning, our centre is designed to play a pivotal role in enhancing the teaching and training of future professionals such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists and scientists. It was also built to nurture and advance the growth of scientific research, particularly in the life sciences. We at ADInstruments, envision the role of our training centre as a strategic regional nexus in the teaching and research of the life sciences.” said David Kumar, General Manager, ADInstruments South East Asia.
The training centre in Malaysia has been deisgned to train educators, researchers and students in the use of ADInstruments’ leading scientific equipment including latest PowerLab systems, LabChart and LabTutor software, as well as cutting-edge equipment from ADInstruments’ business partners (such as Transonic, DMT, Radnoti, Panlab, Millar Instruments, Telemetry Research and others). These state-of-the-art laboratories will host research and education workshops, and training events for both local and international markets. The new centre recognizes Malaysia’s location and growing position as a key hub for life science research and education.
