PowerLab and LabChart can be used by students to monitor expired carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations from resting and active subjects.
Students can use PowerLab data acquisition systems to monitor expired CO2 levels from resting and active subjects. The Gas Analyzer connects to the PowerLab and measures expired CO2 online. LabChart software can be used to obtain breath-by-breath measurements of end-tidal CO2. The Exercise Physiology System, in conjunction with the Metabolic Module, provides an easy-to-use system for measuring VCO2 in human respiration. This system is ideal for studies in sports science and exercise physiology.
For advanced teaching laboratories, transcutaneous CO2 (tcpCO2) levels may also be monitored using third-party sensors. These third-party sensors may be connected to PowerLab provided that they have suitable analog outputs, for more information please contact your nearest ADInstruments representative.
Using the above sensors, students can perform a series of experiments to investigate the relationship between respiration and CO2. Configured teaching experiments on respiration that are suitable for undergraduate laboratories are available from the Experiments Section. To complement these types of experiments we also have available Piezo Respiratory Belt Transducers, Nasal Temperature Probes, Spirometers and prepackaged Teaching Kits (Human Respiratory Kit, Exercise Physiology Kit). |
