The PowerLab system provides a safe, isolated connection for introducing students to ECG (EKG) recordings in human subjects.
Instructors can be confident that an ADInstruments bioamplifier is safe for connection to students. The body and cardiac protection symbols displayed on the PowerLab 4/25T and bioamplifiers mean that they are certified safe for human connection. These systems are ideal for introducing undergraduate students to ECG recordings in human subjects.
To aid in the preparation of laboratory classes, a variety of resources including ready-to-use teaching experiments, LabChart Settings files and Instructor Guides are available from the Experiments section. The site provides configured experiments on ECG, heart sounds, peripheral circulation and blood pressure.
ADInstruments' Dual Bio Amp can be used to record any two signals of Lead I or Lead II or Lead III. The Arithmetic feature in the LabChart software can then be used to calculate the third configuration as well as aVR, aVL and aVF. You can also mechanically select any of the 12 standard lead configurations using the the 5 standard lead wires and our ECG Lead Switch Box, which supports a direct selection of bipolar and augmented lead configurations.
Heart rate is a useful adjunct to many physiological studies and is easily calculated from the ECG signal either online using Computed Input or offline with the Cycle Variables feature in LabChart. Simultaneous recordings of ECG, heart sounds, and pulse can also be obtained using the Electronic Stethoscope and Piezo Electric Pulse Transducer. Advanced ECG analysis may also be performed using the Heart Rate Variability (Win or Mac) Module for LabChart. |
