PowerLab in Global Warming Research

Researchers from the CSIRO ‘J.M Rendel Laboratory’ at
Rockhampton, Australia are studying methods to reduce
the production of methane emissions in the agricultural
sector.
In recent years methane has received considerable
attention as a contributing factor to global warming.
Methane gas is a product of the digestive process in
ruminant livestock, such as cattle, sheep and goats.
PowerLab data acquisition systems are playing a central
role in recording methane and respiratory gas concentrations
from cattle. The ongoing research by the CSIRO researchers
is enabling new strategies to be developed that improve
feed efficiency in cattle and reduce the production
of methane. |
