By organizing Physiology Understanding, or PhUn Week, the American Physiological Society (APS) aims to introduce school students to physiology as a future study or career option. As part of our continued support of APS and its members, ADInstruments loaned equipment to PhUn Week events in Missouri and South Dakota during November.
LabTutor at Metro High School

Dr Clark took along PowerLab data acquisition units and helped students complete the LabTutor ECG & Heart Sounds experiment.
“I was very grateful to be able to bring LabTutor into the high school classroom. I used the equipment to allow students to record their own ECGs, and correlate the trace with their heart sounds,” said Dr Clark.
According to Dr Clark, “the LabTutor software was very easy to use, and doing these hands-on experiments really helped students understand the electrical activity of the heart. The equipment also allowed students to discover variations in their ECG traces compared to other students. The students had fun doing the activity and were able to follow the instructions in the program easily. It was a great way to get students excited about physiology!”
