ADInstruments pays tribute to Professor Sam Drogo
|
This past September, the Anatomy and Physiology teaching community lost a great friend, Professor Salvatore 'Sam' Drogo; long-time HAPS member, dedicated and innovative educator, and fervent advocate of inquiry-based learning and the use of technology in the classroom and laboratory. |

Sam’s death has left an empty space at Mohawk Valley Community College, his home institution for over three decades. It has also left an empty space at the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS) where Sam was a devoted member, active participant and educator to many, and gave generously of his time to encourage use of technology in both undergraduate classrooms and research laboratories. In a fitting tribute to a man who inspired so many students and peers during his long scientific career, ADInstruments has established the Sam Drogo Technology in the Classroom Award. This annual award honors an educator who demonstrates the innovative and effective use of technology to engage undergraduate students in human anatomy and physiology education. The recipient (selected by the HAPS Scholarship Committee) is encouraged to present a workshop at the HAPS Annual Conference on innovative technology or the use of technology in the classroom or laboratory. |
