ADInstruments Japan will be demonstrating PowerLab research and education systems and the meeting's main exhibition. Additionally, the Education Committee of the Physiological Society of Japan will conduct Model Class Sessions consisting of a student lab component that highlights the use of PowerLab Teaching Systems in the investigation of nerve and muscle function in humans.

The LabTutor Applied Nursing Collection is a new series of learning modules for teaching key physiology and pathophysiology, and how they relate to nursing practice. The Applied Nursing modules integrate patient video interviews, real patient data and clinical test results with related physiology practical sessions.

The release of version 4.3 introduces even more great features to enhance learning. It includes student interactive sub-pages, externally hosted video content and new features for accessing and archiving data. This release also provides experiment collections in Russian and Turkish language, as well as the new Applied Nursing Collection.

Version 4.2 of LabTutor Teaching Suite offers great new features for LabTutor Server, LabAuthor and LabTutor Online, access to LabTutor Online with an iPad. Educators can allow students to email unfinished (unsubmitted) reports to any email address or email completed reports to a course-specific email address. There is also a new ‘Archive Data’ button for fast and easy archiving of student data between courses/semesters.

This past September, the Anatomy and Physiology teaching community lost a great friend, Prof. Salvatore 'Sam' Drogo; long-time HAPS member, dedicated and innovative educator, and fervent advocate of inquiry-based learning. In a fitting tribute to an inspiring scientist, ADInstruments and HAPS have established the annual Sam Drogo Technology in the Classroom Award. This award honors an educator who demonstrates the innovative and effective use of technology to engage undergraduate students in human anatomy and physiology education.

A collection of 10 LabTutor Pharmacology experiments are now available in French. With this new release, LabTutor educators can now choose from 28 French-language experiments. Previous experiment releases have included human, animal and psychophysiology experiments.

ADInstruments 29th newsletter announces exciting new products for almost every application. Featured are the new-look PowerLab and Front End 35 series units, with new hardware filters and environmentally friendly parts. This next generation PowerLab is supplied with our newly released Telemetry Research system and psychophysiology systems. Other new products include LabTutor 4.2 Suite (coming soon!), teaching kits, and accessories. Educators from Goethe University Frankfurt have reported how they used LabTutor software with PowerLab systems to help improve their students’ learning experiences and exam outcomes in Advances in Physiology Education. The full text article, detailing the effects of integrating active teaching strategies into a physiology course for fourth semester pharmacy students, is available to read on the journal website.
