ADInstruments 29th newsletter announces exciting new products for almost every application. Featured are the new-look PowerLab and Front End 35 series units, with new hardware filters and environmentally friendly parts. This next generation PowerLab is supplied with our newly released Telemetry Research system and psychophysiology systems. Other new products include LabTutor 4.2 Suite (coming soon!), teaching kits, and accessories. You can read about PowerLab's central role in psychophysiology research at UNSW, and how LabTutor transformed teaching labs at Goethe University in Germany. A software tip on macros is included with this newsletter.

The PTK23-V Pharmacology Kit II is a cost effective and high-quality option for student laboratories conducting isolated tissue and pharmacological experiments. It can be used with both LabChart or LabTutor for performing passive and stimulated isolated muscle preparation studies including drug titrations, drug metabolism and kinetics, dose responses, washout experiments, muscle force, and stress measurements (for cardiac muscle, skeletal muscle, smooth muscle such as aortic rings, bladder or intestine). Thin, non-muscle tissue preparations can also be maintained with this kit.

ADInstruments has released a new range of stainless steel force transducers for teaching and research applications. Research transducers are ideal for isolated tissue studies and are able to measure up to 20 g of force. Teaching transducers are both high quality and cost effective, perfect for students measuring muscle contractions (or similar forces up to 500 g) in practical physiology classes.

Develop surgical skills in acute and chronic instrumentation in rats and mice at a three-day workshop for researchers and technicians. This hands-on workshop will be hosted by Maastricht University’s Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht (CARIM) and held from Wednesday March 30 – Friday April 1 2011.

One-day workshop concentrating on PowerLab applications in Biomedical Engineering will be held on the 31st of December 2010, at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan.

ADInstruments is will be providing software training for PowerLab users across Germany throughout September and October. On Monday September 27 we are holding LabChart training courses in Cologne. On Friday September 17 we are running a LabTutor and LabAuthor workshop in Hamburg, and on Friday October 1 we are holding a LabAuthor workshop in Ulm.

Your next chance to take part in a software training course and get more out of your PowerLab systems will be in Oxford next month. On Wednesday August 11 we are running LabChart Level I and II training courses. On Thursday August 12 we are running a LabChart Level III course, as well as LabAuthor Level I and II for LabTutor educators.

UPDATE: Second workshop announced on Tuesday May 11. ADInstruments Ltd and Panlab S.L.U. are hosting PowerLab workshops in Madrid on Monday May 10 and Tuesday May 11. These events will showcase PowerLab systems, LabChart software (including LabChart Modules for specialized research applications) and LabTutor software for education.

ADInstruments and LASEC SA are conducting a PowerLab workshop series throughout South Africa (Johannesburg and Stellenbosch), Kenya, Botswana and Namibia in April, 2010. These workshops will cover topics in Data Acquisition and Analysis for Life Science Research and Education and will provide life science researchers and educators hands-on experience with PowerLab data acquisition systems.
