The ADInstruments Corporate Giving program provides support to scientific and education communities worldwide. Applications for the Early Career Development Grant close on 15th September 2010, so if you are a researcher with less than 6 years of post-doctoral research experience in the life sciences, submit your application now! The grant is open to researchers in any country and will provide four up and coming post-doctoral researchers with world-class data acquisition systems.

ADInstruments, together with Neurobotics, will be hosting a workshop in the Russian Federation in September 2010. The workshop will introduce Russian scientists to data acquisition and analysis for life science research and education using ADInstruments PowerLab Data Acquisition Systems and LabChart and LabTutor Software Packages.

ADInstruments is will be providing software training for PowerLab users across Germany throughout September and October. On Monday September 27 we are holding LabChart training courses in Cologne. On Friday September 17 we are running a LabTutor and LabAuthor workshop in Hamburg, and on Friday October 1 we are holding a LabAuthor workshop in Ulm.

Your next chance to take part in a software training course and get more out of your PowerLab systems will be in Oxford next month. On Wednesday August 11 we are running LabChart Level I and II training courses. On Thursday August 12 we are running a LabChart Level III course, as well as LabAuthor Level I and II for LabTutor educators.

PhD student Sam Clayman, with Assoc. Prof. Frank Seebacher from the Integrated Physiology Group at University of Sydney (Australia), have been using PowerLab systems to investigate the physiological differences in muscle characteristics between two populations of marine snails.

LabChart software updates are now available. LabChart 7.1.2 provides enhancements to Chart View, Feature Manager, Help menu, scripting and others.

PowerLab systems with LabChart software were featured on this week's Child of Our Time television programme broadcast by BBC One in the United Kingdom. The systems were used to acquire and display a volunteer's heart rate as they completed a stressful mathematical task in front of a studio audience.
