One Channel Tubing Flow System

The PL3508B12 One Channel Tubing Flow System can be used to measure tubing fluid flow from a single laboratory tube via suitable flowsensors (select and purchase separately). The system incorporates Transonic's innovative ultrasonic transit-time technology, which has been the gold standard for volume flow measurement for more than two decades. It is suitable for a range of applications including measuring perfusion flow in isolated tissue-organ, Langendorff Heart and Working Heart studies. The console includes a blank slot for the addition of another Perivascular Flow or Tubing Module.
System Components:
- PL3508 PowerLab 8/35 (includes LabChart software)
- MLS260/7 LabChart Pro software
- T402-TB One Channel Tubing Flowmeter
- MLAC01 BNC to BNC Cable (1 m)
Flowsensor Selection & Ordering:
PXL-Series Sterile Flowsensors:
Most non-aerated liquids can be measured including saline and buffer solutions, blood, water and even Diesel fuel. No physical contact is made with the fluid media. PXL-Series Flowsensors can be calibrated and programmed for up to 4 different fluid / temperature / tubing combinations and will work with most flexible tubing types. Sensor size is determined by outside diameter of the tubing.
PXN- Series In-line Flowsensors:
PXN-In-Line Flowsensors splice into laboratory tubing and measure absolute volume flow of blood and other fluids. The new four-transducer sensor design offers precision accuracy for flows from less than 1 ml/min up to flows of 100 liters/min. Flow range sensitivity is scaled to sensor size and flow is measured equally well across the full dynamic range of the sensor with little sensitivity to turbulence. Sizes 4PXN - 25PXN have barbed ultem tubing ends (barb) to mate easily to flexible laboratory tubing. Miniature sizes 1PXN - 3 PXN may be cut to length for insertion into small tubing circuits or perfusion apparatus. PXN inline sensors can be calibrated for up to four fluid/temperature combinations for highest accuracy performance in isolated organ setups.

In order to maintain the proper signal strength level and zero offset it is required that the Nanoprobes be used with a CRA10-S-CRA10 (1.25 meter) long extension cable. After extensive testing it was found that this cable length is ideal for optimal performance of Transonic Systems Nanoprobes. The Nanoprobes are programmed and normalized with this requirement in mind. Failure to use the required extension cable with a Nanoprobe may result in poor performance that does not meet Transonic Systems' specifications.
Data Acquisition and Analysis:
The PowerLab 8/35 is shipped with ADInstruments LabChart software that provides data recording integrity, display and analysis features. The research system is also supplied with LabChart Pro software, which includes all the ADInstruments LabChart Modules (excluding GLP Client and Server). LabChart Modules provide application specific data acquisition, analysis and display features.
LabChart Pro also entitles the purchaser to 5 years of FREE LabChart Pro software upgrades and updates. Purchasers are also entitled to any LabChart Module released during this 5 year period (excludes GLP Client and Server).
For more information see the LabChart Pro page or contact your nearest ADInstruments representative.
For measurements of absolute volume flow of blood and other fluids the PXN-In-Line Flowsensors can splice into laboratory tubing for use in isolated organ studies.
For more information about this application see the Blood Flow page.
