Radnoti Working Heart Apparatus for Rats/Rabbits

Overview:

This 120101BEZ/X-V Radnoti isolated perfused heart apparatus is ideal for working heart, constant flow and constant pressure Langendorff (recirculating and non-recirculating) preparations in rats and rabbits.

The reservoir, heart chamber, bubble traps and interconnecting tubes are water-jacketed to maintain a constant perfusate temperature, with the water temperature and flow controlled by the thermo bath/heater circulating pump.

The system includes a 2 L reservoir with an oxygenating bubbler attached. A peristaltic pump then drives the perfusate through a oxygenating chamber to the High-Tech Heart Chamber. A series of compliance chambers/bubble traps are included to ensure that air bubbles are removed from the perfusion system.

The high-tech heart chamber has a threaded cap to ensure that the system temperature is maintained and includes access ports for aortic and atrial cannulae, pacing electrodes and additional instrumentation. The chamber also includes a removable pulley to allow apical force measurements with an appropriate force transducer.

Note:
For countries with 115V power service, the Thermo circulator requires a 20 AMPS outlet.
For countries with 220V power service, the Thermo circulator requires a 15 AMPS outlet.

Applications:

The Radnoti Working Heart Apparatus for Rats/Rabbitsallows the heart to pump fluid via the normal left ventricularcirculatory pathway as the perfusate enters the heart via thecannulated left atrium, passes through to the left ventricle and isejected out of the aorta.

Parameters Measured in a Working Heart Preparation:

• Atrial Inflow and Aortic Outflow if appropriate flow measurement devices are used (i.e. transonic flow probes)*
• Coronary Flow (Atrial Inflow minus Aortic Outflow)*
• Left-Atrial Pressure or Volume* (Preload)
• Left-VentricularPressure. Left ventricular volume may also be simultaneously recordedusing a Millar Mikro-Tip Pressure-Volume conductance catheter
• Aortic Pressure (Afterload)
• Cardiac contractility with an appropriate force transducer connected to the apex
• Systolic & Diastolic Pressure from the aortic line
• Left ventricular dP/dt
• HR
• ECG with suitable electrodes*
• Stroke Volume and Cardiac Output may also be recorded provided an accurate flow measurement is obtained*

* Additional pressure transducers or flow probes are required to measure these parameters.
