Overview:
The EPR-802 Electrophysiology Catheter (1.6F, 8E, 1.0mm, 12.5cm, Redel, Non Repairable) can be used to perform standard electrophysiology studies on mouse hearts by applying pacing and recording protocols from inside the heart (intracardiac) or through the esophagus (transesophageal) to determine electrical properties of the atrium and the ventricle. An additional stimulator (purchased separately) and accessories are required for programming electrical stimulation or pacing of the heart.
Standard parameters that can be determined via the electrophysiology catheter includes:
- Conduction times
- Refractory periods
- HIS potentials
- Sinus and atrioventricular nodal properties
- Inducibility of abnormal heartbeats
The EPC-5A Interface cable is required (purchasedseparately) for connecting the EPR-802 catheter to any ADInstruments Single, Dual or Octal Bio Amps. Adaptors are also available for connecting the EPR-802 and interface cable to the ADInstruments FE136 Animal Bio Amp.
Applications:
The electrophysiology catheter can be used to perform intracardiac or transesophageal electrophysiological measurements in rat hearts. It can be introduced invasively or minimally invasively to various sites of the rat, including:
- Jugular vein for placement inside the right atrium and right ventricle
- Esophagus for placement next to the heart
- Carotid artery for placement inside the left ventricle
