Homeothermic Controller and Plate (for rats)

Overview:

The Homeothermic Controller provides a low voltage DC output and therefore can be used in electrically sensitive applications where AC frequencies might interfere with other monitoring devices. It comes standard with a built in DC power supply designed to operate with the provided heating plate for small animals. The controller utilizes a dual set point control circuit to prevent the heating element from overshooting the control point due to thermal lag in the control system. This is important in preventing burns due to incorrect control settings or faults in the feedback sensor. The heating plate is manufactured of black anodized aluminum and measures 216 mm x 111 mm with small feet giving it an elevation of 6.4 mm above the surface. It is easily cleaned with alcohol. It has a feedback sensor to prevent overheating when used with the controller.

The ML295/R system includes an MLT1403 Rat Rectal Probe which can be used with rats or guinea pigs. The MLT1403 connects directly to the homeothermic controller so the user can read the temperature on the display. To record temperature using PowerLab and LabChart please order the ML312 T-type Pod.

The controller can be used to maintain normal animal body temperature while performing acute or chronic surgery on a small animal under anesthesia. The system can also be used in studies in which animals are maintained on chronic anesthesia and where temperature control is important.

Please Note: The Homeothermic Controller and Plate cannot be used with the ADInstruments rodent restrainer. Please contact your nearest ADInstruments representative for a heating lamp which can be used with this controller.
