One Channel Perivascular Flow System

One Channel Perivascular Flow System

Overview:

The PL3508B11 One Channel Perivascular Flow System can be used to measure perivascular blood flow from a single vessel type from a range of animal species via suitable flowprobes (select and purchase separately) placed external to the vessel. The system incorporates Transonic's innovative ultrasonic transit-time technology, which has been the gold standard for volume flow measurement for more than two decades. It is suitable for a range of applications including cardiac output, cardiovascular dynamics, renal hypertension, ischemia/reperfusion, and hindlimb studies. The console includes a blank slot for the addition of another Perivascular Flow or Tubing Module.

System Components:

Flowprobe Selection & Ordering:
PS & PR - Series Precision Perivascular Flowprobes:
The PS and PR series include the 0.5-0.7 mm nanoprobes for mice and 1-20 mm precision probes for any vessel. The nanoprobes are the smallest probes imaginable and are easily stabilized under the microscope with a micromanipulator for experiments in anesthetized rodents. The precision probes are available as MA (standard acute use) or MC (custom implantable configuration).

PMP-Series Precision Handle Flowprobes:
These 2-14 mm flowprobes are designed with handles for intraoperative measurements in preclinical animal trials where devices that match those used in clinical surgical settings are preferred.

PAU Series COnfidence Perivascular Flowprobes:
These 8-28 mm perivascular flowprobes are designed to measure chronic and acute cardiac output in large animal models with accuracy, enhanced reliability and ease of use. Supplied with form-fitting Ultrafit Liner cushions allows for safe and easy placement, where the liner encircles the vessel and slips into the transducer shell to stay in place without a clip.

V-Series Flowprobes:
These are 0.5-0.7 mm microcirculation probes for acute flow measurements in small vessels, which are <0.7 mm and are the original flowprobe series. These flowprobes have mirrored ultrasonic illumination and a stabilizing handle. They will also require more acoustic coupling gel than the PS and PR series nanoprobes.

Technical Note on Transonic Systems Nanoprobes:
In order to maintain the proper signal strength level and zero offset it is required that the Nanoprobes be used with a CRA10-S-CRA10 (1.25 meter) long extension cable. After extensive testing it was found that this cable length is ideal for optimal performance of Transonic Systems Nanoprobes. The Nanoprobes are programmed and normalized with this requirement in mind. Failure to use the required extension cable with a Nanoprobe may result in poor performance that does not meet Transonic Systems' specifications.

Data Acquisition and Analysis:
The PowerLab 8/35 is shipped with ADInstruments LabChart software that provides data recording integrity, display and analysis features. The research system is also supplied with LabChart Pro software, which includes all the ADInstruments LabChart Modules (excluding GLP Client and Server). LabChart Modules provide application specific data acquisition, analysis and display features.

LabChart Pro also entitles the purchaser to 5 years of FREE LabChart Pro software upgrades and updates. Purchasers are also entitled to any LabChart Module released during this 5 year period (excludes GLP Client and Server).

For more information see the LabChart Pro page or contact your nearest ADInstruments representative.

Features:

  • Complete flow analysis and acquisition system
  • Highly accurate volume flow measurement
  • Ultrasound transit-time technology – the gold standard
  • Analog outputs for direct connection to PowerLab

Applications:

The One Channel Perivascular Flow System is used to measure blood flow or cardiac output from a single vessel type from a range of animal species. More information about these applications can be obtained from the Blood Flow and Cardiac Output application pages.
