Grip Force Transducer

Overview:

The MLT004/ST Grip Force Transducer is a pre-calibrated strain gauge based isometric dynamometer with a linear response in the 0–800 N range.

It is only suitable for direct connection to a PowerLab Pod Port or ML305 Pod Expander Port. For operation, users will require

• MLS040 LabTutor 3.0.4 or later,
• MLS400 LabTutor 4 Teaching Suite or later,
• MLS060/7 LabChart
  • for Windows 7.1.1 or later,
  • for Macintosh 7.1 or later

The MLT004/ST Grip Force Transducer belongs to ADInstruments smart transducer series. Smart transducers are supplied ready to use and do not require initial calibration or excitation-setting resistors. When force is applied to the metal bars an output calibrated in units of Newtons can be recorded in LabChart. A green LED on the connector housing indicates the transducer is receiving power and is ready for use.

Applications:

Used to measure hand grip force as an indicator of muscle fatigue. Sophisticated muscle activity studies can be made by simultaneously recording hand grip force with an EMG signal from various muscle groups.
