Confocal Wire Myograph System

Overview:

This confocal wire myograph system allows for simultaneous in vitro monitoring of smooth muscle contractile function in small arteries (>60μm - 3mm) and measurements of intracellular [Ca²⁺] or pH, using laser scanning microscopy (Optical components not included). The myograph features specialized tissue mounts which allow vertical as well as horizontal positioning of the tissue and easy access for microscope lenses. The myograph also includes a built-in heater, force transducer and micrometer.

The supplied DMT Normalization Module software allows the user to easily and quickly determine and set pre-experimental conditions for the tissue.

Data Acquisition and Analysis:
The PowerLab 8/35 is shipped with ADInstruments LabChart software that provides data recording integrity, display and analysis features. The research system is also supplied with LabChart Pro software, which includes all the ADInstruments LabChart Modules (excluding GLP Client and Server). LabChart Modules provide application specific data acquisition, analysis and display features. 

LabChart Pro also entitles the purchaser to 5 years of FREE LabChart Pro software upgrades and updates. Purchasers are also entitled to any LabChart Module released during this 5 year period (excludes GLP Client and Server).

• Precise Z-axis movement controlled with a micrometer
• special mounting supports that allow vertical positioning
• Sandwich bath design enables use of very low working distance objectives
• Bath allows easy access for the high numerical aperture immersion lenses used on inverted microscopes and also direct immersion lenses used on standard upright microscopes
• A conical chamber to facilitate very low media volume, hinged top facilitates easy access
• Built-in electrical heating, which is reliable and easy to control

Applications:

The Single channel Confocal Wire Myograph that is specifically designed for use with confocal microscopic techniques. This system allows for simultaneous in vitro monitoring of smooth muscle contractile function in small arteries and measurements of intracellular [Ca²⁺] or pH, using laser scanning microscopy (Optical components not included). It enables highly resolved images of fluorescent dyes in living tissues to be obtained with a laser-scanning confocal microscope (LSCM).
