Cardiac Output Pod (no thermocouple)

Cardiac Output Pod (no thermocouple)

Overview:

The Cardiac Output Pod is used with high performance T-type thermocouples for the determination of cardiac output in small animals (mice, rats, guinea pigs or rabbits) using the thermodilution technique. The Cardiac Output Pod has a 'delta' temperature mode to allow a signal offset to be applied and therefore allow small temperature variations to be monitored accurately.  This unit is for use in the determination of cardiac output in animals ONLY.

The ML313 is not supplied with a T-type thermocouple, this needs to be purchased separately. Alternatively the ML313C Cardiac Output Pod (with Thermocouple) can be purchased which includes an MLT1402 T-type Ultra Fast Thermocouple Probe.

Any T-type thermocouple can be used with the ML313 Cardiac Output Pod, however, we recommended the MLT1402 T-type Ultra Fast Thermocouple Probe with a fast response time of 0.005 seconds, which is ideal for the thermodilution method. Other T-type thermocouples are also available.

To facilitate accurate and fast determinations of cardiac output the Cardiac Output Module (Win only) for LabChart is also available for purchase.

To facilitate the measurement of cardiac output from small animals (rats, guinea pigs and mice) the MLA313 Cardiac Output Accessory Kit can be purchased separately.

The Cardiac Output Accessory Kit includes:
  • 1 x Hamilton glass syringe (250µl)
  • 1 x Repeating dispenser
  • Polyethylene tubing
  • 6 x Luer needle hubs
  • 4 x Three-way stop-cocks
  • 2 x Touhy Borst Adaptors

Features:

  • A thermocouple voltage signal amplified to 10 mV/°C @ 25 °C
  • Ice Point Reference compensation
  • In-built 30 Hz low-pass filter. Additional filtering (1, 2, 5, 10, 20 Hz) may be available depending on the model of PowerLab being used.
  • A ‘delta’ temperature operating (ΔT) mode allows a signal offset to be applied which allows small temperature variations to be monitored accurately.

Applications:

The Cardiac Output Pod is suitable for measurement of cardiac output in rats, mice or rabbits by the thermodilution method. It is NOT for human use.

For more information refer to the Cardiac Output application page.
