Overview:
The MLS062/7 Spike Histogram Module for Macintosh provides neuroscientist in conjunction with our PowerLab systems, the ability to record and analyze extracellular spike data in real time and offline.
This module provides the user with the ability to discriminate and analyze extracellular neural spike activity, featuring a simple dual height/width discriminator.
The Spike Histogram Module should be used with the latest version of LabChart.
The Spike Histogram Module is also available as part of LabChart Pro. The LabChart Pro software package includes all LabChart Modules. Existing LabChart users and PowerLab system purchasers can upgrade to LabChart Pro at a special price. If you need more information please contact your ADInstruments Representative.
For more information download the Software Booklet (5.83 MB) or contact your nearest ADInstruments Representative.
Sample Applications:
Spike Histogram Module applications involves studies requiring analyzation of extracellular spike recordings
Sample Applications include:
Features & Benefits:
- Advance spike discrimination and data analysis.
- Real time and offline discrimination and analysis.
- Allows reanalyzation of recorded spikes with modified discriminator settings.
- Automatic indication and examination of changes in neural firing rate.
- Dual height and width discriminator window provides reliable discrimination against unwanted units in multi-unit recordings.
- Better discrimination than simple amplitude discriminators and faster compared with template matching.
- Six specialized histogram windows:
- Ratemeter plots the spike firing rate against time
- Amplitude displays a histogram of spike amplitudes from different populations
- Interspike Interval displays a histogram of interspike intervals distribution
- Peristimulus Time Histograms examines changes in neural firing rates due to a repeated stimulus
- Autocorrelograms detects periodicity of a single neuron firing pattern and highlights any inherent periodicity in spike (Mac version only)
- Crosscorrelograms detects periodicity or temporal dependence of the firing of one neuron to another (detects whether firing of one neuron causes another to fire) (Mac version only)
- Data collected by the spike detection parameters are updated and logged into analysis windows in real time. The chart file and analysis windows can be viewed simultaneously.
- Spike Histogram Module for Macintosh has additional Spike Generator feature allowing users to create up to three independent spike trains per channel for the purpose of checking calculations and algorithms. For each train, users can define amplitude, width distribution and time interval distribution.
