The Spike Histogram Module for
Macintosh provides the neuroscientist, in conjunction with
our PowerLab systems, the ability to record and analyze extracellular
spike data in real time and offline.
The Spike Histogram Module should be used with the latest version of Chart. Click here for the latest Chart update for Macintosh.
Features of Spike Histogram include:
- Dual height and width discriminator – better discrimination
than standard amplitude discriminators and faster than template matching.
- On-line discrimination and analysis – discriminate
spikes as they are recorded, and if desired reanalyse off-line with
modified discriminator settings.
- Autocorrelograms and crosscorrelograms – histograms
that highlight periodicity in the firing of a neuron, or temporal dependence
of one neuron on another.
- Interspike interval and peristimulus time histograms –
examine the distribution of interspike intervals, and changes in neural
firing rates due to repeated stimulus.
- Amplitude histogram – displays the distribution of
spike amplitudes from different populations.
- Rate meter – plots the spike firing rate against time.

Spike data recorded with a PowerLab data acquisition system and Chart
software.

Define the height and width limits for a spike population in the
Discriminator Settings dialog box.

The Spike Histogram Discriminator window. The left-hand pane shows the
spikes contained
within the current limits (dragging the limit lines refines the discrimination).
Individual spikes are
viewed in the right-hand pane.

The ISIH window displays the distribution of interspike intervals.
Statistics, such as bin number and event number (count), are also displayed.
Also available, Spike Histogram Module for Windows.
The Spike Histogram Module is also available as part of Chart Pro. Visit the Chart Pro information page prior to making a purchasing decision. If you need more information please contact your ADInstruments representative.
