Electromyography (EMG)

Overview

Record and measure electrical activity produced by muscles using an EMG

Whether wireless or tethered, surface or intramuscular EMG activity can be measured with PowerLab and an EMG system fully isolated for human and animal studies.

EMG - Electromyography recording shown on the LabChart software.

EMG of voluntary contraction of the brachioradialis muscle. LabChart’s Arithmetic function was used to calculate the RMS. LabChart’s Spectrum View displays both the Power Spectral Density and Spectrogram plots.

Hardware

On the cutting edge? Stay on the move with wireless EMG recording using revolutionary technology from Delsys Inc. Our Wireless EMG systems will get you started with a PowerLab, LabChart, a base station receiver, and wireless sensors capable of recording triaxial accelerometry and surface EMG.

Alternatively, surface EMG activity can be measured with our PowerLab and single- or multi-channel bioamplifiers, which are fully isolated for human and animal studies.

Looking to go a little deeper? Check out our line of Nerve and Muscle Kits, which include specialized needle electrodes for intramuscular EMG.

Software

Analyze your EMG activity using LabChart.

  • Determine the energy content or intensity of your EMG signal in real time with LabChart’s RMS function.
  • Use your personal video camera to record simultaneous video directly into LabChart. Try our Video Capture Module.
  • Display your data as percent maximum voluntary contraction using LabChart’s Unit Conversion feature.
  • Calculating activation timing is a breeze using LabChart’s Event Manager and Data Pad.
  • Use LabChart’s Power Spectrum Density plot to summarize muscle fatigue over time.
