Isolated Tissue Studies
Many pharmacological and physiological experiments are based on the ability of isolated tissue preparations to produce quantitative responses to chemical or electrical stimulation. To assist in the preparation of undergraduate and advanced teaching laboratories, a series of experiments are available from the Experiments section. These experiments are suitable for use in undergraduate laboratories and are an excellent reference for graduate students and technicians working with new preparations.
Most studies can be performed using a Force Transducer, Bridge Amp or Bridge Pod, and a PowerLab system. The Single Chamber Organ Bath is recommended, however, 2, 4 and 8 chamber organ baths are also available. The PowerLab analog outputs may be used to send a trigger signal to a third-party stimulator and stimulating electrodes.
