Cardiovascular Function in Animals
PowerLab data acquisition systems can be used in undergraduate teaching laboratories to easily and effectively demonstrate cardiovascular function in animals. Along with in vivo studies, ADInstruments provide complete systems for studying cardiovascular function in vitro using the Langendorff System preparation and Organ Bath systems. We have a range of physiology and pharmacology experiments available from the Experiments section
Students may use PowerLab in conjunction with the Animal Bio Amp and Bridge Amps to investigate cardiovascular function in animals; however, the Animal Bio Amp is NOT suitable for attachment to human subjects.
PowerLab can be used to record the following physiological parameters:
- Blood Pressure: Millar Mikro-Tip® Catheters, Reusable BP Transducer and Bridge Amp
- Non-Invasive Blood Pressure: NIBP tail cuff system for Rat or Mouse
- Blood Flow: T-type Implantable Thermocouple Probe, Cardiac Output Pod, Blood FlowMeter & Probes
- ECG/EKG: The Animal Bio Amp with appropriate leads. Advanced ECG and cardiovascular analysis is possible using the Heart Rate Variability Module (Win or Mac).
