Frog Heart
Investigate the basic physiology of cardiac muscle, including the effects of autonomic drugs.
The aim of this experiment is for students to investigate the basic physiology of cardiac muscle using a frog heart in situ. In this experiment, students will explore contractile force, an electrocardiogram (ECG), the effect of drugs on the heart, and conduction blockade. Students will be introduced to Starling's Law of the Heart. This experiment is suitable for students with basic knowledge of the PowerLab Data Acquisition System.
