Earthworm Action Potentials (Korean)
Students will obtain extracellular recordings of action potentials from an anesthetized earthworm. They will examine the threshold potential, the all-or-none response, the refractory period, and the conduction velocity of the nerve.
On completion, students will be able to:
- Describe the all-or-none response of a single axon.
- Determine nerve conduction velocity.
- Explain the difference between the absolute and relative refractory periods of a nerve and demonstrate the physiological significance of these periods.
- Understand the bidirectional nature of action potentials elicited electrically in a nerve.
