Frog Nerve (Korean)

List of all LabTutor 3 Experiments

In this laboratory students measure the compound action potentials (CAPs) from an isolated frog sciatic nerve. They will investigate basic nerve properties such as threshold, refractory period and conduction velocity.

In this experiment, students will be able to:

  • Describe the nature of compound nerve action potentials.
  • Explain how increasing stimulus strength results in increased magnitude of the CAP up to some maximum.
  • Demonstrated and understand the physiological significance of absolute and relative refractory periods of a nerve
  • Determine nerve conduction velocity
