Gut Absorption (Korean)
The ingestion of nutrients by the gastrointestinal tract is examined in this experiment by way of determining the rate of change in blood glucose levels subsequent to carbohydrate or starch loading.Volunteers will ingest one of four different protocols, normalized for body weight:
- Glucose solution
- White bread
- Potato chips
- No food intake (control)
Finger-prick measurement of blood glucose levels are made at fifteen minute intervals using a glucolet and glucometer.

Measurement of blood glucose concentration
While waiting to collect the next sample students will complete study questions. These are then collated on the final report page.
