Launching ADInstruments Software

Go to ADResearch Go to ADEducation Go to ADPharma
launching ADInstruments software
To run LabChart or Scope, simply double click the appropriate application. If your PowerLab is connected correctly, then the application will run immediately. If there is no PowerLab connected or it is connected incorrectly, then a dialog box will appear that asks you if you would like to scan for a PowerLab, run the application in analysis mode, or quit.

Scan Mode
The Scan button forces your ADInstruments application to search for a PowerLab. For your PowerLab to be recognised, you must have the PowerLab connected and switched on before running your ADInstruments application. If you have forgotten to do this, simply turn the PowerLab on and choose 'Scan' to run the application. If your PowerLab is not connected properly then the dialog box will remain unchanged.

The 'Options' button (available for Mac only) in this dialog box allows you to set the type of connection you are using — SCSI or USB. For more information refer to your software User's Guide or the USB and SCSI support pages.

Analysis Mode
Analysis mode allows you to view, edit and print datafiles, and to apply off-line calculations and take measurements from them. Analysis mode does not allow you to perform any sampling-related operations such as set-up the input amplifier, change sampling speed or range, use computed inputs or use any other on-line functions.

Analysis is independent of the PowerLab, so there is no need to turn the PowerLab on for analysis only. For more information on analysis mode, refer to your software User's Guide.

There is a comprehensive section in your PowerLab manual on connecting your PowerLab and running ADInstruments software.

If you are still having problems, send us a technical help request detailing your query.
