MicrosoftTM Vista Compatibility

ADInstruments is Windows Vista Compatible

ADInstruments is Windows Vista Compatible

Windows Vista includes a new User Account Control (UAC) initiative, intended to increase the security of Windows. It operates primarily by requiring all users to run in standard user mode – which consequently blocks access to certain previously accessible file and registry locations. Previous versions of LabChart, Scope, LabTutor, and GLP, used these folder and registry locations during installation and operation, and this has been updated to work with Windows Vista.

Vista Editions

32-bit Edition

– LabChart has been tested extensively with the Business edition of Windows Vista. The other editions, such as Windows Home and Windows Ultimate, are also supported.

LabChart®

LabChart 6 or later requires Windows XP or Windows Vista.

ChartTM

Chart 5.5.4 or later is required for Windows Vista. SCSI connections not supported.

ScopeTM

Scope 3.8.2 or later is required for Windows Vista.

LabTutorTM

LabTutor 1.4.1 or later is recommended for Windows Vista.

Known Issues:

  • UAC settings prevent RTF files opening correctly on Vista using WordPad. This issue will be addressed in a later release of LabTutor.

Work Around: Open the files with Microsoft Word or other editor with RTF capability.

GLP Module

GLP Client 5.5.1 or later is required for Windows Vista.

GLP Server

GLP Server 5.5 or later is required for Windows Vista.

Known Issues:

  • Uninstalling on Windows Vista launches GLP Service App

Work Around: When uninstalling GLP Server on Vista, the GLP service needs to be manually removed before the uninstall can complete successfully. When the uninstall process is initiatedÊthe 'GLP Service App' will launch. When this occurs:

    1. type 'uninstall' into the 'GLP Service App' window and press enter
    2. close the GLP Service App window
after this the uninstall will complete normally.
  • GLP Server on Vista currently results in problems related to UAC. In order to make changes to the GLP service (starting the service, adding users etc) Windows Vista's UAC must be disabled. The UAC may be enabled while the service is running.

Extensions

  • Export CVSOFT v1.2.1 is not compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista.
  • Export DATAPAC v1.2.1 is not compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista.

SCSI Support

LabChart 6 does not support SCSI connections.
