Join the education discussion at Physiology 2015

Just a week to go until the start of the Physiology 2015 conference in Cardiff, Wales! There is a lot to look forward to, including great presentations on hypoxia and the brain, neural control of blood pressure, and vascular aging - just a few of many fascinating sessions by scientists from around the world.

This year, we’re proud to sponsor some interesting speakers with a focus on innovation in education. If you’re an educator and keen to see the latest teaching tools in practice, don’t miss the session on Undergraduate physiology practicals in a digital age, on Tuesday 7 July, from 9.00 - 11.00. Organised by Dave Lewis, University of Leeds and Jon Scott, University of Leicester, the symposium will discuss whether traditional practicals are still the best option and what role virtual practicals or simulations can play. Presenters will give insights into different approaches to the delivery of practicals across the Life Sciences.

You can also register for a session presented by Ian Rowe of Robert Gordon University and Derek Scott of Aberdeen University, on the Power of Collaboration: working together to evolve undergraduate active learning tools into powerful professional development experiences. See the abstract below:

One of the challenges in developing and refining teaching and learning materials is finding the right partnerships, at the level of staff and students within institutions, in local educational environments and across Institutions at national and international levels.  This fledgling collaboration between ADInstruments and a number of Scottish Universities, supported by NHS Education Scotland (NES) illustrates how students as partners can develop new teaching materials, how collaboration between Robert Gordon University and Aberdeen University is assessing the impact of these materials, and how a network of Scottish Universities using LabTutor are developing undergraduate teaching and novel clinical skills-focused post-graduate materials using a common learning platform.

As always, please come and say hello at our booths 23-24 - to ask questions, talk about new technology or just for a chat. It would be nice to see you!
