Determine aerobic power by measuring the maximal rate of oxygen consumption (VO2 max). Analyze gas exchange during exercise with open circuit spirometry.

Examine anaerobic capacity through a Maximum Accumulated Oxygen Deficit (MAOD) test. Determine work rates using VO2 max, then compare oxygen consumption at a work rate 110% above VO2 max and simultaneously measure heart rate, respiratory rate, volume of air and fraction of CO2 and O2 expired.
