This Ussing chamber series allows surgically excised tissue sections or a monolayer of cells (SnapwellTM) to be mounted, housed, and sustained between two compartments, both of which contain physiologically relevant buffers that can be continuously gassed.

Overview

The NaviCyte Vertical Ussing Chambers allow surgically excised tissue sections or a monolayer of cells (SnapwellTM) to be mounted, housed, and sustained between opposing faces of two half-chambers, both containing physiologically relevant buffers that can be continuously gassed. The two halves are held together by a high spring-tension retaining ring to ensure leak-free operation. These chambers can be used individually as a stand-alone entity, or up to six of the chambers can be mounted into a NaviCyte Heating Block Assembly (Vertical, 6 Chamber)

There are 12 tissue chambers with different apertures and a Snapwell version to suit a variety of applications. Caps, electrodes, and accessories can be selected depending on the application (purchased separately).

Technical

Excised tissue recommendations:

  • Ensure the tissue dimensions are a minimum of 3.0 mm in each direction to allow the o-ring or pins to capture the tissue without tearing.
    • For example, a chamber with a 5 mm round aperture will require a tissue with a minimum diameter of 8 mm, and a chamber with a 2 x 10 mm oblong aperture will require a tissue with a minimum dimension of 5 x 13 mm.
