A spool of PFA-coated platinum wire of 99.9% purity, which is often used where the biological inertness of pure platinum is required in electrophysiological applications.
A spool of 3.048m (10 ft) PFA-coated platinum wire, which is often used where the biological inertness of pure platinum is required in leads. Applications include recording potentials or stimulation, such as pacing an isolated heart or heart tissue. The wire is 99.99% pure platinum and has a nominal American Wire Gauge (AWG) of 36 for the bare platinum wire, and 32 with the coating. The bare diameter is 127 µm (0.005”) and the coated diameter is 203.2 µm (0.008”).
Typical Tolerances:
For the bare wire outer diameter = ± 2.54 µm (0.0001")
For coating thickness from 25.4 µm to 31.75 µm = ± 12.7 µm (0.0005")
For coating thickness from 38.1 µm to 50.8 µm = ± 25.4 µm (0.001")
For coating thickness from 50.8 µm to 63.5 µm = ± 50.8 µm (0.002")
Therefore total wire tolerances = bare wire outer diameter tolerance + 2x coating thickness tolerance.
Other wire sizes, variations and types are also available including bare wires. Please consult your nearest ADInstruments representative for more information.
