LabChart v7 + v8 compatibility with macOS Catalina 10.15>

Apple has confirmed that the next version of macOS - Catalina (10.15) - will not support 32-bit applications. LabChart v7 is a 32-bit application and therefore will not work in macOS Catalina or any future versions of macOS.

I’m a LabChart v8 for Mac customer. What should I do?

We have released an update to LabChart 8 for Mac to be compatible with macOS Catalina, you can download it now from our support section.

I’m a LabChart v7 for Mac customer. What should I do?

If you need to keep using LabChart v7 for Mac, we would ask that you please do not upgrade to macOS Catalina 10.15 when it is released, or any other future versions of macOS.

Please continue to use macOS Mojave (10.14) or earlier in order to continue using your software without issue. (If you use Video Capture then macOS High Sierra (10.13) is needed.)

Depending on your requirements, you may be eligible for early access to LabChart Lightning (see below).

Please contact us to see if you are eligible, or with any questions.

I’m wanting to purchase a new Mac soon. What does this mean for me?

If you are planning to purchase a new Mac after the release of macOS Catalina 10.15, please be aware that LabChart v7 will not work.

If you require LabChart v7 you will need to create a partition that utilizes macOS Mojave, or use virtual machine software such as Parallels.

Alternatively, you can use LabChart v8.

Depending on your requirements, you may be eligible for early access to LabChart Lightning (see below). Again, please contact us to see if you are eligible, or with any questions.

What is LabChart Lightning?

Due to our desire to see the compatibility issue solved for good, we will not be updating LabChart v7 to be a 64-bit application.

Instead, we are focussing our efforts and resources on completing LabChart Lightning, an innovative cross-platform software for high quality, flexible data analysis.

LabChart Lightning will be ready early 2020, and will be compatible with new and existing versions of macOS, including Catalina.
