The TCAT-2LV from physitemp Inc. (our Homeothermic Controller ML295) was designed with two temperature sensors. One is built into the plate itself and is set to shut off power to the plate when it reaches 43 °C. If the second sensor is not attached to the animal the plate temperature will be maintained at 43 °C and will continue to cycle on and off to maintain this temperature. The second sensor is normally inserted into the animals rectum and is set to maintain its core temperature by using the digital controls on the display panel.
Some customers with rather cold animals complained that the warming plate gets too hot and asked for a way to amend the upper limit temperature. The attached document
describes the procedure how to do this.
