What are the additional system requirements for using video content with LabTutor Server?

The specific requirements for supporting video experiment content may vary considerably depending on video quality and size, number of videos and the number of students intending to view simultaneously.
As a guide, the following is recommended as a minimum to support LabTutor Server video content:
  • At least 2 physical cores
  • At least 2GB RAM
  • At least 100MBps local network speed
Please note, these specifications must be attained on both the Server and Client machines. The Server computer must be sufficiently equipped to provide the videos over the local network and the Client machines must, in turn, be stable enough to access these videos with satisfactory performance.
Actual performance may vary and the specifications provided are a minimum. Obviously incorporating more RAM with a faster network (>100MBps) will result in better performance.
This information is valid for LabTutor v4.0 and later.
