And the FUN Educator Award goes to...

We’d like to congratulate Dr Wes Colgan on receiving the Faculty of Undergraduate Neuroscience (FUN) Educator of the Year Award, presented at this year’s Society for Neuroscience conference in Washington DC. Wes is our Education Product Manager for North America so we have first hand knowledge of his energy and enthusiasm - not just for teaching neurobiology but for helping others to make their neurobiology curricula both hands-on and inspiring for their students. Wes developed ADInstruments suite of Neurobiology exercises for LabTutor and has been instrumental in assisting at and expanding the Crawdad and CrawFly Educator workshops at Cornell University . We’re very proud to have Wes on the ADInstruments team and to see him recognized as a influential educator. Congratulations Wes!

Dr. Jeff Smith, president of FUN, presented the award at the Society for Neuroscience conference last month:

"The Educator Award is given to a FUN member in recognition of notable efforts related to promoting effective teaching of neuroscience at the undergraduate level. This year¹s recipient of the FUN Educator Award is Wes Colgan. Wes was once a faculty member at Louisiana Tech University but has been with ADInstruments since 2005. There, he has been instrumental in developing high impact, student-ready neurobiology curricula for higher education. He has contributed several papers to JUNE, and has been a critical contributor to FUN workshops and Crawdad faculty workshops, and he helped to initiate the CrawFly faculty workshops in 2012. Faculty who have the good fortune of attending a workshop with Wes take that newfound knowledge and enthusiasm back to their own institutions and share it with their students. Clearly Wes's influence is very far reaching. Wes has long been a strong supporter of FUN and has been instrumental in keeping ADInstruments involved in the FUN equipment loan program that provides faculty with use of state of the art equipment to develop their research programs. We are very pleased to recognize Wes with the 2014 FUN Educator Award."
