Alga Chamber
Used for student experiments using the freshwater alga, Chara corallina.
Overview
Used for student experiments using the freshwater alga, Chara corallina.
Chara cells are large, making it easy to perform intracellular recordings using glass electrodes and an intracellular amplifier. When placed in the chamber and electrically stimulated, alga will fire long action potentials, enabling students to investigate refractory periods and taxonomic distribution of voltage-gated channels.
