MPVS Ultra Foundation Systems
The Millar MPVS Ultra Foundation Systems are configured for measurement of ventricular pressure and volume in small through to large animal hearts, using an appropriate Millar PV catheter.
Overview
The Mikro-Tip® Pressure Volume System (MPVS) Ultra Foundation Systems are configured for measurement of left ventricular pressure (LVP) and volume. Choose a Foundation System suitable for small (rat or mouse) hearts, or small through to large (sheep, pig) hearts.
A variety of Millar pressure-volume (PV) catheters are available for dog/pig/sheep, rabbits/cats, mice and rats, which are purchased separately. A range of configurations of PV catheters are available with all catheters having a single or dual pressure sensor and four platinum electrodes for volume measurement. Due to their small size, PV catheters can be placed directly into the left or right ventricle of the heart with minimal disruption to heart function. In vivo, the catheters can be used in either closed- or open-chest preparations, as well as being used in the isolated working heart preparation.
Each System includes:
- Instrument Interface (x3 in the MPVS Ultra Foundation System for Large Animals)
- LabChart and LabChart Pro analysis software
- PV Loop Module, specifically designed for the acquisition, calibration and analysis of left ventricular pressure and volume data. Workflows are provided for small and large mammals and analysis results can be displayed in a variety of views, plots and tables.

Note:
- Pressure-Volume Catheters are to be purchased separately.
- Volume Calibration Cuvettes to convert volume units into mL for mice and rats may be purchased separately, if required but not included in your Configuration (see below).
- The Ventri-Cath catheter series requires the PV Extension Cable (Ventri-Cath to MPVS Ultra, 10ft) to connect to the MPVS Ultra Pressure-Volume Unit (large and small animals), which is supplied in this package.

MPVS Ultra Foundation System for Large Animal Pressure Volume
This Large Animal Pressure Volume Foundation System is configured for measurement of left ventricular pressure (LVP) and volume in large animal (sheep, pig) hearts, using an appropriate pressure-volume (PV) catheter.

This system can also be used for small animals (rat or mouse); however, this requires the separate purchase of Volume Calibration Cuvettes.
MPVS Ultra Single Segment Foundation System for Rats
This MPVS Ultra Single Segment Foundation System is suitable for measurement of left ventricular pressure (LVP) and volume in rats using an appropriate pressure-volume (PV) catheter (purchased separately). This MPVS Ultra Single Segment PV Unit can be upgraded to the MPVS Ultra PV Unit for small and large animals by purchasing the MPVS Ultra Upgrade (Converts SS Unit to MS Unit).

Note: For the MPVS Ultra Single Segment System, measurements can be only be made from outputs including:
- Pressure 1
- Pressure 2
- Segment 1 (Volume)
- ECG
- Temperature and Cuvette (For diagnostic purposes)
- Segments 2 - 7 outputs are disabled by the software. Signals on the Composite Volume should be ignored.
MPVS Ultra Single Segment Foundation System for Mice
This MPVS Ultra Single Segment Foundation System is suitable for measurement of left ventricular pressure (LVP) and volume in mice using an appropriate pressure-volume (PV) catheter (purchased separately). The MPVS Ultra Single Segment PV Unit can be upgraded to the MPVS Ultra PV Unit for small and large animals by purchasing the MPVS Ultra Upgrade (Converts SS Unit to MS Unit).

Key Features
The MPVS Ultra Pressure-Volume Unit from Millar, provides analog outputs for two pressure, a composite volume and a maximum of seven volume segments. The combined pressure and volume signals can be plotted in real time using LabChart to generate pressure-volume loops which are used to determine cardiac function.
The research system is also supplied with LabChart Pro software, which includes all the LabChart Modules, such as the ECG Analysis Module, Blood Pressure Module and Peak Analysis Module for Windows which are specifically configured to analyze and report pressure (ventricular or blood) parameters as well as examine any recordings of ECG.
