Teflon Insulated Platinum Wire (3m)
The Teflon Insulated Platinum Wire (3m) features 99.9% purity and often used where the biological inertness of pure platinum is required.
Overview
The Teflon Insulated Platinum Wire (3m) features 99.9% purity and often used where the biological inertness of pure platinum is required. It can be used for recording or stimulation such as attaching the stimulator leads to heart tissue for pacing. The platinum wire has a nominal American Wire Gauge (AWG) of 36 for the bare platinum wire and 32 including the insulation. The "bare diameter" is 125 µm and the "coated diameter" is 200 µm.
Typical Tolerances:
- For the bare wires = ± 1.27µm
- For insulation thickness from 25.4 µm to 31.75 µm = ±12.7 µm
- For insulation thickness from 38.1 µm to 50.8 µm = ± 25.4 µm
- For insulation thickness from 50.8 µm to 63.5 µm = ± 50.8 µm
Therefore total insulated diameter tolerances = bare wire tolerance + 2x insulation thickness tolerance
