Left Ventricular Pressure
To measure left ventricular pressure, the pressure catheter is inserted into the left ventricle and secured in place with a ring of sutures. Kaha Rat Pressure Telemeters use Millar Solid State pressure sensors. Unlike gel-filled catheters, solid-state sensors detect pressure changes from the transducer on their tip. Inserting the catheter tip ~10mm into the heart has been found to give the most stable LVP signals over long periods of time.
