One student enters the agreed group responses and shares the lesson work with participating students. Each recipient must sign in individually, preview the correct completed version, and accept it. Set a clear handover point and allow time for acceptance before the deadline.
Prepare the lesson
- Find the lesson in your course, select Edit Details, enable Group Lesson, and save.
- Publish the lesson and configure availability for the intended students or sections. Confirm that every participant has access.
- Confirm the LMS lesson link or institutional sign-in route students should use. Check your course's sharing configuration with the instance administrator if you are unsure; enabling Group Lesson alone does not guarantee a Share button.
- Add clear group sharing instructions at the beginning and end of the lesson using the template below or your own wording. Provide the lesson link, group membership rules and deadline. Explain who enters the agreed responses and that sharing applies to all questions in the lesson.
- Allow time for each recipient to preview and accept the completed work before availability ends or staff lock the lesson.
Run a session using group sharing
Start and share
One student signs in and opens the group lesson. They add participating students by Lt account email in the start or continue dialog, then choose Share and Start or Share and Continue. They can update the recipient list through Share and save with OK.
Agree on one version for the group to develop. Remind students to check recipients again when returning for another session. Sharing an earlier session does not automatically share work completed in a later session.
Review and accept
At the agreed handover point, each recipient signs in individually and opens the same lesson. They use Review or Preview Group Work, choose the correct sharer and time where several versions are available, inspect the work, and select Accept.
If the recipient already has work, Overwrite Lesson replaces it with the selected version. Ask students to cancel if they are unsure. Acceptance creates the recipient's own version at that time, so early acceptance can leave them with incomplete group work.
Sharing is not acceptance. Being added to the recipient list does not mean the work has been accepted. Each recipient must sign in to their own account, preview the correct completed version and accept it.
Finish and follow up
Check that every recipient has accepted the correct completed version before treating their work as ready for grading. Give clear instructions for checking the lesson's completion status and completing any required commit or submission step. If accepted work is already committed, students should inspect its status and follow your instructions.
A student's committed lesson can prevent them accepting an invitation. Availability locks can also prevent acceptance. A course administrator should inspect the affected student's current work, deadline, and status and decide whether an extension or uncommit is appropriate. Do not ask students to reset work as a routine fix.
Review group activity
Use Group Activity in student progress or on the completion or report page where available. Check who shared or accepted work and when, then compare the history with the student's current answers and completion status.
Use observation, discussion, or individual reflection to assess contributions; activity history alone does not establish the quality or amount of each person's contribution.

| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Sharing controls are absent | Check the lesson flag, entry route, and site configuration. Escalate configuration questions to the instance administrator. |
| A recipient email fails validation | Verify the Lt account email and access to the specific published lesson. |
| An invitation is missing | Check that the recipient is signed in to their own account, the exact lesson, recipient list, and session. |
| A recipient accepted incomplete work | Identify the accepted version. Have the sharer check the completed session and recipients; arrange a new review and acceptance where permitted, explaining any replacement. |
| Several shared versions appear | Identify the intended sharer and session before the student accepts. |
| Work is committed or unavailable | Review the affected student's status and assessment policy; use an extension or uncommit only where appropriate. |
| A recipient leaves or is absent | Confirm who participated and update the current recipient list. Review existing activity rather than assuming a list change removes earlier history. |
Add instructions to your lesson
Download reusable lesson instructions
Download the group work instructions template and import it into your Lt course. Use the group sharing opening and closing panels in your lesson, and adapt the submission instructions to your course.
Place the opening panel at the beginning of your lesson and the closing panel on the final activity page, before submission. The opening panel explains how to share; the closing panel reminds every recipient to review and accept the completed work.
Suggested announcement
One student will enter your group's agreed responses and share the work with the participating members. Every recipient must sign in to their own account, preview the completed work, and accept the correct version before the deadline. Read any overwrite warning before confirming and ask for help if the work is wrong.
