| 10:00 | Peter Pokreisz Dr. Peter Pokreisz is a Senior Scientist at the Medical University of Vienna, specializing in experimental cardiology, biochemistry, and translational research. He holds a PhD in biomedical sciences and has extensive training in cardiovascular research. Additionally, he is a voluntary research associate at KU Leuven and a member of the KU Leuven Cancer Institute. Dr. Pokreisz’s research focuses on myocardial infarction, ischemia, and the use of advanced techniques to study cardiovascular conditions. | |
| 11:00 | André Moreira Anaesthesiology Consultant, specialised in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia - Hospital São João, Porto Dr. André Leite Moreira is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, a Staff Anaesthesiologist, and a prominent researcher in cardiovascular sciences. With a focus on diastolic function, he has expertise in advanced in vivo and ex vivo setups using animal disease models to explore heart disease. Dr. Moreira has contributed significantly to the understanding of cardiac physiology and pathophysiology. | |
| 12:00 | Common problems with PV data aquisition | |
| 12:30 | Lunch | |
| 13:30 | Daphne Merkus Professor of Cardiopulmonary Pathophysiology, Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and Professor of Large Animal models for Translational Cardiovascular Research, Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Germany. Daphne’s research focuses on microvascular dysfunction in cardiopulmonary diseases like pulmonary hypertension, HFpEF, and pre-eclampsia. Her group has developed swine models of cardiopulmonary conditions, including metabolic derangement, pulmonary hypertension, neonatal hypoxia, and congenital heart disease. She has extensive experience in hemodynamic measurements at rest and during exercise, and in characterizing cardiac function using PV-loops. | |
| 14:30 | Peter Hartmund Frederiksen Post-doctoral researcher, Cardiovascular research unit, Odense University Hospital, Denmark. Peter has been part of the animal experimental group since 2018, focusing on cardiogenic shock in porcine models and exploring mechanical circulatory support options, including VA-ECMO, Impella, and IABP. His research also centres on advanced echocardiographic techniques, particularly their correlation with pressure-volume loops. Dr. Frederiksen has contributed to several publications and has been actively involved in presenting his findings at major cardiology conferences, such as ESC Congress 2023. | |
