How do I choose the correct Rodent NIBP CODA® cuff size?

When you perform non-invasive blood pressure measurements on rodents using CODA® Rodent Cuff Kits , selecting the appropriately sized Rodent NIBP CODA VPR Cuff Sensors and Occlusion Cuffs is critical for obtaining accurate and repeatable data. The dimensions for both VPR and Occlusion cuffs are described below to help you choose the best fit for your animal model.

VPR Cuffs: A VPR Cuff sensor incorporates a specially designed differential pressure transducer that measures the animal's systolic and diastolic blood pressure by determining the blood volume in the tail. These cuffs feature a tapered design with two different diameters to better conform to the natural shape of the tail.

Four VPR Cuff Sensor sizes are available (Sml, Med, Lrg and XLrg) to cater to different animal sizes.

Cuff Size Length mm (Inch) Diameter Side One mm (Inch) Diameter Side Two mm (Inch)
VPR-XL 70 (2.753) 15.50 (0.618) 12 (0.478)
VPR-L 70 (2.757) 12.00 (0.468) 9.5 (0.358)
VPR-M 70 (2.749) 9.50 (0.361) 6 (0.248)
VPR-S 50 (1.897) 6.00 (0.237) 4.5 (.177)

Occlusion Cuffs: An Occlusion Cuff is inflated to impede blood flow to an animal’s tail. These are shorter in length and have a single consistent diameter.

There are five Occlusion Cuff sizes available (XSml, Sml, Med, Lrg and XLrg) to cater to different animal sizes.

Cuff Size Length mm (Inch) Diameter mm (Inch)
OCC-XL 17 (0.684) 16 (0.620)
OCC-L 17 (0.653) 13 (0.500)
OCC-M 16 (0.652) 10 (0.375)
OCC-S 13 (0.532) 7 (0.260)
OCC-XS 10 (0.373) 5 (0.185)
