Meet Phil!

Phil is the ADInstruments General Manager for Europe.

“What I love about working at ADI is that the people, all over the world, are actually really similar.

Wherever you seem to go in the world, you meet people who are quite similar in terms of their outlook on things and how they go about their work. We make really amazing products that are helping to solve problems for people, in a really important market, which is both scientific research and scientific education.”

Phil started his relationship with ADInstruments as a neuroscience researcher. During his postdoctoral work, examining the impact of Apelin on arterial blood pressure, Phil transitioned from acute catheterisation of subjects to long-term blood pressure monitoring using Kaha telemetry. After four and a half years of postdoctoral research, and becoming an expert in the ins-and-outs of Kaha Telemetry, Phil made the leap and started working for Kaha instead.

“I did that for two years, and then ADInstruments made the good decision to buy Kaha,” Phil says, “and I stayed on to work in the support team.”

Phil's experience using Kaha Telemetry in the lab, and working with other researchers to get their telemetry systems set up, made him a staunch advocate for the system.

"What's really nice about Kaha Telemetry is that you're able to record for such a long period of time because you're not relying on batteries," Phil says, "so, the wireless charging allows the telemetry to run continuously for the duration of your experiment, but also the integration of the Millar solid-state sensor gives you this really beautiful, high-quality data. Just the amount of information you can get out of that system means you can answer much more complex questions about those physiological systems."

Over the years Phil has worked his way up, from Support, to Research Sales Manager, and eventually to his current position as General Manager for Europe.

"My role now is making sure that all of our teams in Europe, the finance team and sales teams for research and education, are all working toward a common purpose," Phil says, “The best part of my job is working with people. I’m really keen to drive a purpose and make sure that everybody is working for the same thing. So, I really like that leadership element and making sure that the whole team is really working towards common goals; both for the company but also for individual goals as well, making sure we’re all pulling together and supporting each other.”
