Meet Sola Woodhouse!
Sola is an Instructional Designer in the Education Team here at ADInstruments.
In 2022, at the end of her anatomy and physiology degree, Sola applied for an internship at ADInstruments. “I was procrastinating studying for my final exams, and I saw it and just throught ‘why not?’” Sola says, “it sounded really cool, and then I was really surprised when I got it.”
“It was ten weeks of being in the team, writing alt text and researching a bunch, and asking people I knew with visual impairments for feedback on the alt text.”
Halfway through her internship, Sola was asked if she’d want to stay on as a full-time instructional designer, and since then she’s been a crucial part of the Lt content team.
On an average day she’ll be working on content for a new lab, reviewing other people’s labs or, her favorite part, running tests. “I get to do a lot of testing with the sensors, and going through whole labs like a student,” Sola says, “honestly, that was the best part of university, going through labs… and now I get to go through them with a critical eye to account for variations in students and in how they read and interpret things.”
Like many of her colleagues, Sola was drawn to ADInstruments because she loves to learn. Having the opportunity to learn, to test, and continue to grow after university gave that passion a continued outlet.
“I was a really curious child, especially about how the body works, and I really carried that through high school and university, just a big fascination with facts about the human body,” Sola says, “coming here has been awesome because I get to keep researching things, and learning, and sharing that information with people.”
“I think being in the office here has been really great because everyone is really nice and the environment is really cool,” Sola says, “We're quite a close knit team, and we're currently all in the same office full of plants, so it's very green there.”
“It's great because I can just look up from my computer and look at one of my teammates and ask them a question. I really value the team that I'm in because everyone's really engaged, and friendly, and curious.”
