SNA and Arterial Blood Pressure

3D model URL

This model shows a Rat Pressure and SNA Telemeter simultaneously recording arterial blood pressure from the abdominal aorta, and sympathetic nerve activity from the renal nerve. All Kaha rat pressure telemeters use Millar solid-state pressure sensors, which transmit pressure information from the transducer at the tip of the catheter, making them ideal for long-term use.

The pressure sensor is inserted just inside the abdominal aorta and held in place using a combination of glue and surgical mesh. The multi-stranded stainless steel wires of the SNA lead are stripped and carefully hooked over the renal nerve, insulated by silicone elastomer, and fixed in place by surgical mesh and tissue glue.
