How do I clean Finapres Medical Systems (FMS) equipment?

Finapres Medical Systems manufactures the Finapres® NOVA systems, the Human NIBP Nano Wrist Unit used with the ADInstruments Human NIBP Nano System, and related accessories, such as the Finger Cuffs (size S, M or L) and Height Correction Unit (HCU) for both the NOVA and Human NIBP Nano. Finapres suggests the following cleaning procedures for the previously mentioned system components and accessories:

NOVA

The NOVA should be cleaned after each day of use. The NOVA can be cleaned by wiping its surface using a soft, slightly moistened cloth. Cleaning fluid or any liquid should not be sprayed directly onto the device. Detergents or strong chemical agents such as alcohol, refined petrol, or thinner should never be used, as they can damage the NOVA housing. Untested cleaning agents can be used at the user's own risk.

Finger Cuffs

The finger cuffs can be cleaned after each use by submerging the bladder end in the following cleaning agents and hanging to air dry.

The following products have been tested and are approved, other cleaning products with similar active substance concentrations can be used at the user's own risk.

  • MediClean ForteSolution (ChemischeFabrik Dr. Weigert GmbH & Co. KG)
  • A sodium hypochlorite solution (min. 1 minute, 0.1% active substance)
  • A dichlorosiocyanurate solution (min. 5 mintues, 0.1% active substance)
  • Clinell Universal wipes (GAMA Healthcare Ltd)
  • Schülke mikrozid sensitive wipes (Schülke & Mayr GmbH)

Wrist Unit

To clean the NANO CORE wrist unit, the wristband around the wrist unit can be removed. Instructions are as follows:

  1. To decouple follow Figure 1-11 up until Figure 1-14 with explanation a.
  2. The decoupled components look like Figure 1-15 and Figure 1-16 and can be cleaned similarly to the NOVA. The wrist unit should be cleaned after each day of use by wiping its surface using a soft, slightly moistened cloth. Cleaning fluid or any liquid should not be sprayed directly onto the device. Detergents or strong chemical agents such as alcohol, refined petrol, or thinner should never be used, as they can damage the wrist unit housing. Untested cleaning agents can be used at the user's own risk.
  3. To couple the components follow Figure 1-14 up until Figure 1-11 with explanation b. This is the reverse from decoupling.
