Should I cut mouse biopotential telemeter leads when implanting?

The leads of mouse biopotential telemeters (MT10B) are ~8cm in length. To prevent damage to the skin of the mouse during long term implantation, it is NOT recommended that excess lead length is coiled subcutaneously. Therefore, the leads should be cut to the required length on implantation.

Please bear in mind that some excess length should be left to ensure animal movement is unrestricted and to allow for growth of the mouse during the study.

To minimise noise and ensure the telemeter functions properly, do not stretch, trim or disturb the wire coil within 2.5cm of the telemeter body.
