Should VMware be used to run a virtual Windows machine on a Macintosh computer when demonstrating LabChart?

No.

Problems are frequently encountered when this is attempted. In particular the machine or LabChart may crash. In addition, some LabChart modules, such as Video Capture, will not function perfectly in the virtual machine.

A better and correct alternative is to use Boot Camp. Boot Camp software is automatically included with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard (and higher) that allows you to run compatible versions of Microsoft Windows on an Intel-based Mac. In order to access this virtual machine the Macintosh computer has to be (re)booted and the Boot Camp option is selected at start-up. Further information about Boot Camp can be accessed at: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1656.
